A joint initiative by New Zealand and Australia will increase the quality of education in Tonga.
“Working alongside Australia, we will also be increasing our investment in Tonga’s education sector, providing up to NZ$15 million over the next five years to all levels of education – from early childhood to secondary. This is in addition to our NZ$4 million programme of support to technical and vocational education,” said Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully.
The money will be used to increase the level of qualified teachers and assist with curriculum reform.
